Fall 2020
Calling 2020 a rollercoaster would be an understatement, to say the least. For some, it would be more accurate to compare the year to Hosukai's The Great Wave off Kanagawa, humanity just a helpless raft, swept into the currents of the sea; for oth-ers, it is perhaps akin to a concerted Bohemian Rhapsody of a righteous harmonious cacophony. To be in the state of constant change, passage, or movement, flung between both the sentimental joys and earth-shattering losses of this unprecedented year like clothing tumbling in a washing machine, (bleached for disinfectant), we yearned for a collection of work that resonated with the broad scope of these emotions. From interpersonal reckonings to those of the state, the work in this issue represents the variability and temporality of this current reality. Wherever you may be on this spectrum, no matter how many times you have been battered or uprooted during this time, FLUX acknowledges you, and welcomes you all the same.
