The photographs in this series comprise a visual investigation into the moments of pause in New York’s “No Kings” protest on October 18, moments rooted in universal instincts — poses, hand positions, faces caught off guard. The protest, which garnered over 100,000 people according to the NYPD and was one of the largest organized protests in American history, was an easy backdrop to lose focus on human details and look at the bigger picture rather than the individuals making up the crowd. By focusing on intrinsic themes of American political resistance like individualism and equality, we hoped to create a series that speaks to the public’s resiliency, a passion that stretches across boundaries of time.
