Cartwheel
Spring 2022

In the age of late-stage capitalism, there is little left that makes sense; little that has vet to go untouched and distorted by those with power. The lack of working social services, healthcare, welfare & unemployment programs has been underscored as the pandemic has visualized the intricate dependency of neoliberal capitalism on the work and participation by oppressed communities. This Cartwheel presents a series of works that question the readability, reality, and time of their subjects and environments in ways that keeps up flipping for more. Lastly, there is a prescient disruption of aesthetics that drives the work as many of these artists employ mixed media and media and digital technologies to further their conceptual and aesthetic inquiries.
